The Saturday Tune Ups
Need something new to add to your arsenal? These 2-hour long workshops address a new movement or concept to bring into your growing empowerment program. A Bodytribe membership will get you vouchers for 2 workshops, otherwise we request a $10 donation from members, or it’s $20 to the general public. 10 am, several Saturdays a month. Upcoming workshops include kettlebell basics, intro to sandbags, program design basics, and more. Here’s what coming up soon…
2/06/2010 Brutal Recess: Intense Mobility. Mobility: it’s not just for warm ups anymore. By taking elements of yoga, martial arts, tumbling, hand balancing, dance and some good ol’ fashioned strength training, we give you the tools to create an artistic workout through intense mobility, with the main piece of equipment being YOU. This workshop brings you and your body into a new relationship, one of movement as evolution to freedom, both of mind and muscle. Begin to understand ‘athletic mobility,’ new levels of movement that don’t just support our pursuit of strength but enhance the journey. From a variety of pushup and burpee variations to other unique bodyweight exercises, we’ll delve into movements that will become tension releasing exercises while also challenging the muscles in ways no free weight or machine ever will.
This workshop is meant for all. Whatever your training background, there will be new elements of play to consider adding to your, or your client’s, program.

2/20/2010 THE SINGLE TOOL SERIES: Intro to Leverage Clubs Not only will we be immersing ourselves in the strange world of leverage clubs, the historic strength tool that is completely unique in what it offers to the stability, mobility and overall strength of the body, BUT it’s physical culture arts and crafts time. We’re offering the option to BUILD YOUR OWN CLUB(S)! If you’d like to make your own club, we’ll be providing the parts and some fun color and ‘flair’ options, to build your own clubs. Each club will cost $40, which will include all the pieces necessary, plus some free bonus options.
But we’ve got plenty, if you don’t feel like building your own. If you are interested in having your own club (or two or three), let me know to make sure we’ll have parts on hand!

3/20/2010 THE SINGLE TOOL SERIES: Advanced bodyweight workouts. Just you versus gravity, in ways that are way beyond the classic pushups and crunches.

The INITIATION: New Member Workshops

What: Bodytribe Trainer Tav Byerhoff welcomes you to learn how to apply the principles of Bodytribe program design while learning some new movements and combos. He’ll show you what one of our trainer-created workouts might look like and answer questions about about how to achieve (or even set) your goals. Saturday, December 19th @ 7pm: Scrooged!Bill Murray, David Johansen of the New York Dolls, and Olympic medalist Mary Lou Retton all in the same adaptation of a Dickens classic!?! How on earth can that not be the most awesomist way to celebrate the holidays? Bring any chairs or food you want, but you’re more than free to sit on the floor and mooch grub off others as well. We are a Tribe, right?
Saturday, January 16th @ 7pm: The Jerk! This time of year is often when we need to reflect on the lessons of humility. And there ain’t no better education than letting Steve Martin be our teacher. It’s a little PG-13ish simply due to language, but otherwise a good family favorite… sort of.
