Introduction to the New Bodytribe Cycling Training Program
(or “How the rituals of the physical subculture, and cycling, saved my life”).
This workshop is open to anyone with an interest in conditioning for better riding skills. It is also the introduction workshop for an ongoing cycling conditioning class run by State Time Trials champion Michael Claudio. Here’s the story: Michael conquered his fear of riding a bike when he was 10 years old. At the age of 20 he was a full time bicycle messenger working in Washington, DC, racing road bikes in the amateur ranks of professional cycling. After a horrific racing crash, and a major career change, Michael at the age of 25, had all but given up on his dreams of ever winning another bicycle race, amateur or pro! However, earlier this year, 20 years after first learning how to stay upright on a bicycle, Michael won the 2009 California/Nevada district Elite 4, Time Trial Championship. The amazing turnaround from an out of shape and discouraged 25 year old, to a 30 year old State Champion (in arguably cycling racing’s most difficult discipline) started 3 years ago, when Michael walked into Bodytribe fitness, and became a disciple of the rituals of the physical subculture. Bodytribe Cycling Training creator, Michael Claudio, welcomes you to come learn how he applied the principles of Bodytribe program design, along with other traditional cycling training methods, to create a unique and exciting new way to train cyclists of all abilities, from the beginner to the seasoned racing veteran. He’ll show you what some of the Bodytribe Cycling Training workouts might look like, and answer questions about how to achieve (or even set) your cycling fitness goals. Get ready to have fun, and bring your bike for a ride on the American River Trail immediately following the workshop!
