older, wiser, hungrier

Workout possibilities:
Max Cleans. Joining me in my quest for Olympic Gold (or at least a decent placing in the Tommy Kono Open this weekend). Clean. Heavy,
Combo Catch of the Day: Carrie I’d suggest 95lb hand snatch, 125lb clean and 125lb farmer’s walk handles for the boys, 65/75/85 as the upper end for women. It’s at the end of this video:
I’m celebrating my 38th revolution around the sun by lifting in the Tommy Kono Open this weekend, albeit a week after my actual b-day. Tommy’s from Sacramento but lives in Hawaii…. I’m from Hawaii but live in Sacramento, so we’re like kin, right? Anyway, this meet is a warm-up for another I want to attempt in Hawaii in October.

I’m dropping a weight class, something I’ve never done in any of my silly competitive adventures. Thankfully it’s only about 4 pounds, which, sans shoes, my scale already tells me is a success. But, being cautious, certain guidelines must be adhered to, the first of which is Bodytriber Ed Pierini’s Rules of the 7 C’s: no cake, cookies, candy, crackers, ice cream…. and 2 other words that start with ‘c’ that I can’t remember (Cotton? Chlamydia?).
Then there’s the big R. Recovery. I want to climb our new rope, or complete a recent combo, making the stop watch bleed with my new, faster times, or attempt a Turkish Get Up with Trainer Allyson as my weight. But alas, I need to sit my ass down. Hot baths, cold and gentle swims, massage and ice are my closest companions this week, as well as a few good books and an old VHS of Logan’s Run, which is sort of an ironic choice, since I would have been ‘renewed’ eight years ago (I probably would of been a runner).

So what’s on your list for things to conquer in the near future? We’re not getting any younger.

w00t! @ the Allyson TGU idea. I was actually going to suggest you give it a try after seeing some videos of human TGUs, but I figured it was A. a little presumptuous to thrust Allyson into that and B. a little creepy of me to suggest.
Things to conquer in the near future? Surviving moving to Davis/a family wedding/going back to work/training for September’s meet. It’s going to be a busy month…

Chip,
The 7 C food items in the order I like to utter them are:
(1) cakes - (2) cookies - (3) candy - (4) chocolate - (5) ice cream - (6) crackers - (7) chips.

Hey Chippie! Happy Birthday! I’ve been slacking, so I won’t be lifting tomorrow, but I’ll be there to cheer you on!
