Almost there

I made a dangerous discovery this weekend. My techno-moronic brain finally discovered how my website can upload videos. It wasn’t embedding the code like it should of, and it took a bit of sleuthing to figure out why. Not only was that a major discovery for my tiny trainer brain, but some other lessons about this WordPress system opened a big door for web possibilities.
Unfortunately this project has become a vacuum of hours, sucking away cherished time like a Hoover on steroids. BUT, when it is all done, the website will be an exercise and program development resource that will open minds and bodies to new ideas and challenges.
Future blogs will have workout and program design ideas for the powerlifting team as well as friends and members of Bodytribe who have no desire to get on the platform. But I will need a little help…
I’m looking through old blogs, workout logs and videos with the intent of documenting the many combos we’ve created and utilized over the years. If there are any workouts that you remember and love, maybe even something you’re created, let me know. We’ll give it a name and memorialize it on a future website. Although Crossfit’s idea of naming workouts after hurricanes was quite clever, we have enough ridiculous pop culture trivia floating around in our collective brains to document our workouts even better.
Recent Videos
Here’s two new videos we’ve posted on YouTube. One is a hodge podge of brutal strangeness and the other is part of a recent training day of ours on the path to the Tommy Kono Open in August.
Notice Andy’s new freaky tire exercise in this gem…
And one of our recent workouts (well, part of it):
So it’s time for some updates

Here’s Kevin (and his supportive brood), who, with Michelle seen in a previous post, are making up the two Channel 10 employees who are kicking ass through the month of June to empower themselves through movement, strength and good food. I’m working with two time-crunched people here, so a ritual involving a gym experience doesn’t match their circadian patterns as groovy as they’d like. Hence their workouts will eventually take place at their respective homes, and the lessons from Bodytribe are of intensity sans a bunch of gear or time. With little more than a pair of dumbbells, they are both learning what their limits are quickly and effectively, making their gym memberships sort of obsolete for the time being.
Although this journey will only be a month long, we look forward to seeing them after that as well, and keeping up with their progress. Meanwhile, the next 2 Mondays will find us at the Channel 10 studios at 9 am, documenting their off-camera progress publicly on-camera during Sacramento and Co.. This morning they did a good amount of DB swings and burpees live on the air, proving that they both are quick studies and getting stronger. Thanks guys.
MMA and ME

My other endeavor is prepping a handful of fighters for some upcoming MMA bouts this summer. I’ll be updating their progress shortly, as well as expounding on my take of modern MMA training, and a couple of glaring gaps I see in most conditioning programs (hint: some of it has to do with the concept of FOUNDATION Strength I wrote about recently).

So, again, anyone who wants to help with this web process, please send your favorite combos, past or future, to little ol’ me so I’ll be sure to include them into our upcoming data base.

Jedi Master, what is the secret of youtube?
When’s your next meet with Scott? I missed the last one.

Second Sunday of September (alliteration is cooler than looking up the date).
RAW. The way a Bodytribe meet (and bodytribe MEAT) should be.

I’m out of town for a conference right now, and I just got in a workout (new PR on parallel box squats & then a bunch of power snatches & a minimal amount of OHS practice) at local gym that plays host to an equipped powerlifting team. They were benching today, and I must say, the whole spectacle was just *weird.*
And why, oh why, would a 15 year old kid who is doing a 2 board press with 95 raw have any business going anywhere near a bench shirt? Oy vey…
Anyway, I’m happy to see a RAW (does it always have to be all caps?) meet, and I plan on finally competing in this one.

I’ve seen suited up kids before, especially in meets, and I don’t get it either. There was a 14 yr-old, maybe a buck twenty soaking wet shirted to the gills at a recent meet, heavily geared dad close by, benching that same 95 pounds. Form sucked, the kid had no idea what a real bench press was, and (ahem) HE’S 14!! C’mon.

Chip, I’d totally call them fuck-ups. You can call them whatever you like, but that’s what I’m going with.
