The Strength Camp in the Redwoods is over, and today is reserved for hiking. Upon my return there will be an in depth account of the weekend and the lessons learned.

Thanks, my new Arcata tribe. I’ll see you soon.

I’ll have to come by your facility up there when I next travel through Humboldt County (I do so most every year). Y’all have a website?

You can count on us to help spread the word about the “tribe” . Saying “thank you” just does not seem sufficient. Really it was a AWESOME weekend.

It’s hard to tell from the photo - are those real wood logs, or are they faux logs?
Thoughts on logs: real logs would be damned cool. However, a “log bar,” with adjustable weight would be more practical for training purposes. Of course, one trick I heard of for real logs is to just wrap chain around the log for more weight. Know anyone who works for SMUD or PG&E? Might be able to score some old telephone pole sections…
And on the subject of strongman equipment, it seems the Powerhouse Gym up in Rancho Cordova has been taken over by some strongmen (those “Team Big Sac” guys who are always on the Marunde boards) and they’re holding a grand-re-opening of sorts on the 7th. I think I’ll have to head up there and see what toys they have.

Zac,
They are real wood logs! They are cut with perfect hand holds that make it a challenge for the wrist when placed overhead. I wish I knew what type, but it’s some kind of hardwood as they are heavy for their size. I am going to check into getting some more made.
It would be cool to have you up here this summer. Let me know when.

To all of you that participated in the Arcata camp….How did your bodies feel after the weekend ended ? Tired, sore, injured, etc ? Sat was a breeze for me. Sun ended up getting me a little. Did not prepare well enough for all that sunshine. I ended up pulling a muscle in my back. I think it was from chucking the 40 lb KB backwards over my head. Well at least I won’t be playing baseball in that field anytime soon(smiles). Does anyone else have any glorious stories to share about the aftermath of the weekend. An injury is about the only thing that will slow me down, but sure enough I’m still smiling baby !

Zac - the group at the Rancho gym will have a whole room dedicated to strongman apparatus, including stones (which we’ll be making here soon). They also plan on having tires in their. It will be nice seeing something like that in the suberbs.
Chris - thanks for inspiring Al and I to work harder in our workouts. The whole group was pretty darn motivating.
Seth - I’ve got pictures for you. Drop me an email so i can get them to you. Nice job this weekend!
Everyone - I’ll have some video of the weekend up soon.

w00t! @ stones. Are you looking at commercially-made molds (http://www.slatershardware.com/stonemolds.html) or going old school (http://www.bodyresults.com/S2stone.asp)?
