Bench Day
For Max bench today we repeated last week, only a little heavier and faster:
Max bench. Nothing fancy, just a bunch of low rep sets leading up to a single max.
Iso hold/fast rep bench/explosive pushups. At about 60% of our bench max, someone holds the bar to our chest for about 10 seconds, then upon being released we crank out 6 reps, followed by as many pushups we can do briniging the whole body off the ground as fast as possible. 2 sets.
Pushup crawls/ninja chops. Forward pushup crawls across the room followed by a handful of heavy ninja chops with the leverage club. 2 sets.
I know, I need more bench pictures. But here’s a clip of my first 265 bench ever (shut up, I never claimed to be a big bencher):

w00t! on the bench post. As a non “big bencher” myself (stuck around 230 on the bench despite a 405 deadlift) I’d love to see more of Chip’s sagely advice applied to the bench.

I’m posting the video of this workout later today on YouTube. Adding explosive work and isometric work at the sticking point makes a difference that I’ve been able to document.
