[Notice: this Saturday is the Be Strong workshop, here at Bodytribe at 1 pm.  A must for members and friends of Bodytribe who want to know the ‘why’ behind the ‘what.’ See the link on the homepage for details and sign up]
So, on top of the daily workouts, we’re starting to issue monthly challenges, to give us something […]

Dead Man Lifting

Short day.  Let’s make it intense:
1) Work up to heavy singles with deadlifts.  But use them bands for an added bonus.
2) Three part combo for time:
single leg deads with kettlebells (straight knee, bent knee, up to you, but I prefer the straighter the better), followed by lunging bueler’s, followed by sandbag drill: the clean, press […]

Vote Bodytribe!

Wow, not a lot of workouts posted this week.  Well, today is the final day of the push press/burpess challenge, at least for me. So I invite anyone else to play along:
Push Press/Burpees.  10 reps each, 5 sets for time.
We’ve played with a bunch of different weights, and today I’m trying to nail 135# in less […]

I Heart Snatches (the Tim Hardaway Story)

Idiot.  That’s my one word assessment of Hardaway. Moving on…
One arm snatches.  Go heavy.  Let’s see how heavy we can go.  And for a bonus, do a windmill at the top.

Booty Bounce Remix, V.3.0

This one keeps coming back.  It’s a world of fun, so let’s do it one more time (feel free to change the dynamic squat):

Stop the Presses remix

Here’s the original:
http://physicalsubculture.com/2007/01/23/stop-the-presses/
I’m modifying it a little.  First, the incline max WON’T be from pins.  Second, the final combo is F**CKING tough, so either be prepared for some serious CTV (’close-to-vomiting’) or go pretty darn light on the push presses.  I’ve done the combo both at the end of this workout an on its own, […]

Squat and Gobble

Max box squats, with a bonus:  after working up to some heavy singles, follow each single with a heavy farmer’s walk.  Handles, dumbbells or sandbags, it doesn’t matter.
Goodmornings/sled pulls.  Goodmornings for reps, sled pulls (backwards) 200 feet (or two Bodytribe laps)
Turkish get up/lunge/sandbag shuttle:  HEAVY barbell t-get ups, heavy enough that 1 rep on each […]

February Art Show

A MUCH needed rain finally hit Northern California after a completely dry January.  Too bad it had to blast us during the Second Saturday ArtWalk.  But what we lacked in quantity, we made up in droves through quality, seeing a bunch of our favorite faces coming out for this show.
We had three photographers, including a […]

Thank You, Trim Spa

Since no one but Scott Bird reads this forum (who has a far more informative website that can be found here: http://www.straighttothebar.com/) no one should be overly offended by my topical title.
Whatever else you do today, follow it up with this brutal combo (this works especially great after some max effort bench pressing):
Push Press/Burpees
10 reps each, 5 […]
