Stop the Presses
Tuesday and wednesdays are often dedicated to presing for many of our clients and powerlifting team members, depending on their schedule. This is why Tuesdays always seem to feature heavy pressing of some sort (and Mondays are usually squatting related). You might also notice that there isn’t as much in the way of GPP combos on these past few Tuesdays. This is a personal bias on my part, simply because I’m trying to get my press up and therefore focus on the other end of the spectrum of strength, the greateer development of force, saving the GPP work for other days.
Today is no exception, despite the name of this post. As with any of these workouts, feel free to make it your own and not follow it to the letter.
Max out on incline press from pins. Set the pins in the cage so that the bar rests tight and low on the chest.
Pin lockouts with bands, flat bench. Several sets of heavy pressing from pins about 4 inches off chest. Throw some mini-bands on there.
Reverse grip flat bench. GO LIGHT if you’ve never done reverse grip. just a couple sets today, for moderate reps, say 8-10.
Standing overhead press (push press it only if ya gotta)/burpees. 10/10 5 times, no rest. Time it. (okay, so it’s a little combo…sue me).
